My Path

1960’s
Born in Manhattan, NYC
I was born into a family without a lot of wealth. What we didn’t have in money we made up with a lot of love, discipline and spirit. We were a family of a soon to be single mom and 7 kids.
1970s
Growing up quick
By age 10 I was already used to being the most responsible of the kids. I had a job packing groceries in a local supermarket. I remember running away from other kids attempting to beat me up often.
1970s
A Bookworm
I found myself being really good at trying to escape reality through books. So was born a sci-fi fan and mostly an introvert. I always hated hanging out. As a result I have developed into a lifelong learner.
1980’s
Formative Years
Throughout high school I worked in restaurants, summer jobs and began to discover computers. I found an appreciation for music.
1990s
College / IT Career
In college, I meandered. I took the long way round. At an early age of computers I had several job opportunities that I pursued and eventually found my way back to school to complete a BS in IT. Along the way I became an entrepreneur and tried many different jobs.
Landed a job in the IT field as a Unix administrator and eventually created a career as an IT consultant / technology lead for many corporate projects in banking, insurance, and law firms.
2000’s
Married Life
Met my first wife in college. I think she was attracted to seeing how smart I was. Went through the cycle of marriage and divorce. Received the gift of a daughter and a grand-daughter as well as a great family of in-laws. Learned Spanish.
2005
Marriage Take Two
Blessed to find a lifelong partner. God sent her for the ups and the downs. Gained another family. Learned Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin)
2007
Real Estate Investor
Convinced my wife, her sister and others to buy rental properties together. We did it by leveraging everyone’s talents and realizing that everyone brings something to the table.
2012
Serial Entrepreneur
Started a career as a entrepreneur, working as an independent contractor in almost any legal business opportunity you can think of. Also created my own IT company developing software applications.
For each opportunity in my journey I am very interested in learning how the business operates. How does it help people? How can I create win-win strategies. How can I grow with others?
~2013
Chinese and the Road to China
Along the way, my wife and I have traveled continuously (we didn’t want to wait until retiring). This has helped us discover the perspective of being a world citizen. We are always full of joy, and hope for better days. My journey has taken me to distant lands on the equator to mountainous regions and parts of the world unseen by many.
~2015
Insurance Agent
I am a licensed property and casualty insurance agent in CA. I find that working with business owners to protect themselves is always for the greater good.
~2017
Small Business Funding
Founded another business to help small businesses solve the challenge of finding funding for operational expenses. Worked with a great team and learned a lot by being coach-able and insisting on learning each job before allowing someone else to do the job for me.
2023
Property Advisor
The latest adjustment has been to earn my Real Estate Salesperson license and immediately recognize the utility of entering the commercial real estate . I felt that it would be the best place to continue my learning experience and that it aligns well with my prior experience helping businesses and investors solve problems.

What’s it all mean?
I guess I could boil things down to a set of takeaways:
Enjoy life, it is way too short
Love is good, hate no one
Always expect the best from people
Understand that we all fail and only by failure recognize success
Be an ambassador
Build bridges
Conquer yourself
When challenged be your best
Live by a mantra – mine is: I will never, ever let you down (staring at myself in the mirror)
Don’t point fingers (three will always be pointing back at you)
People and relationships are worth more than money
Be humble
Be faithful
Help others
Be kind and compassionate
Educate yourself
Dare to be different
